Backcountry Communities Thriving

The mission of Backcountry Communities Thriving is to ensure the well-being of each child, family and individual in Julian and surrounding rural areas through advocacy, service and support to foster a thriving community.

Keep Julian Safe!

Please help the Julian community safe from violent predators! State officials are asking a judge to allow a sexually violent predator convicted of molesting two children in the 1980s to live in a home in Julian. The proposal calls for placing Gary Snavely in a home at 3452 Wynola Road, less than a mile from state Route 79. This home is 880 yards from a church that is often used for homeschool families and it is 1.3 miles from Spencer Valley School District. The community is encouraged to appear at the hearing in San Diego Superior Court to oppose the placement. The hearing is being held on March 7, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. at the San Diego Superior Court( 1100 Union Street, San Diego), Department 2002. The presiding judge will be the Honorable Jeffrey F. Fraser.
